Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009)

Very Funtastic. Funny and hilarious as usual. The characters are well-developed, so that they make a good and solid team (a perfect chemistry). I’m new to this series (just recently watched the first two) and totally stick to it. In this third movie, they are facing bigger trouble (a real ‘BIG’, I mean), greater havoc, and totally like ‘a fish out of water’. Their friendship, courages, wits, and luck, will surely help them to cope with this. BTW, don’t bother how the ice age mammals can meet the dinosaurs (as they’re from different era). Just enjoy the movie the way it’s intended to be. It’s a MUST watch movie (well you have to watch the previous two if you want to enjoy it to the max) :)

Inkheart (2009)

A pure family-fantasy-adventure movie.. Perhaps you know ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’? Well this movie has very similar journey, but with different concept and location. Sometimes it’s a bit slow and too much dialogs, that may get you bored, but sometimes adventurous (but in ‘family’ degree). Well go watch this movie if you want some ‘popcorn flick’ but if you have many movies in your ‘to-watch-list’ (especially the blockbuster ones) I think it’d be better to watch this in DVD :)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

I think this is the movie everyone has been waiting for.. The real opening for the summer blockbuster movies. This movie is a non-stop action, packed with all-out effects (well sometimes you have to ‘focus’ your eyes to see who’s who –it’s very fast, detailed and complicated). You won’t get disappointed with this. Its massive runtime length (around two and a half hours) will keep you astonished. But despite all the ‘positive’ factors, this movie also gets some ‘negative’ reviews especially for its plot. This movie lacks a good plot as it too focuses with the actions. But however, once again, DON’T miss this movie! :)

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)

Street Fighter? Who doesn’t know this? This movie focuses on one of its female fighters: Chun-Li (kinda like ‘The Origin’). Don’t expect anything great, don’t expect anything marvelous, and one more: don’t expect your other favorite Street Fighter characters to show up here.. This movie is very ‘Chun-Li concentrated’ (even the main story is also altered, I think).. This movie fails to become one good Street Fighter adaptation, but if considered as a Martial Arts movie, this movie is pretty good, though a bit decent and pretty standard plot. But still watchable :)

Star Trek (2009)

I’m not in a position to review this movie in depth, as I’m totally new to this Star Trek franchise.. But in my opinion, this movie is very good.. I enjoy everything (the settings and effects are just wonderful.. brilliantly made).. I understand most of the story, but sometimes a bit lost too (–because I don’t know the whole stories), as this is like altered dimension (somehow created by the ‘paradox effect’ of time travelling stuff. CMIIW.).. But don’t worry, this movie is like ‘a restart’ (not a direct sequel — you don’t have to watch the previous movies) So for you who don’t like this genre (as many of you do, I guess), perhaps you can give a try on this? Who knows you’ll become fans :)

17 Again (2009)

One of the best teen-comedy movies in recent years (well actually not that ‘teen’) as there is ‘age switching’ thing in this movie. Perhaps some of you remember “Suddenly 30″, in which a young girl becomes a lady in a sudden, exactly like what she wishes for.. well this movie is kind of a reversal of it. A man (also a father) is suddenly going back to his 17, and becomes young again.. then he experiences his current life from a totally different point of view.. and (perhaps) to achieve what he failed to do in the past.. Is everything as smooth as expected? Just watch this movie.. very funny and entertaining in every aspect.. (for a note: there’s some ‘improper’ love chemistry –you will know when you see, but still tolerable).. so go for it! :)

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

The trailer looks interesting so I decided to watch this movie.. The story focuses on a life of a young, successful career woman — but unfortunately, she is cursed (becase she ‘messed up’ with some weird, scary old woman). The curse is totally deadly and inevitable: she’s going to die in 3 days.. and her whole life changes, into a worst nightmare possible. This movie is a combination of horror, supernatural, and comedy (sometimes silly too) — a pretty unique for a horror genre. Scary and really shocking at times, so prepare yourself before watching this.. :)

Terminator Salvation (2009)

Here comes the fourth installment of the series.. with Christian Bale as new leading actor, to be honest it feels ‘brand new’ (not like watching the previous three) and honestly too, I’m a bit lost in some parts, because I forget a lot of things (well how many years it’s been), hehe.. I think I should re-watch all, so that I can enjoy this more.. FYI, this movie serves as a direct sequel to Terminator 3, and I think also as a prequel to Terminator 1.. Confused? This is because Terminator series always involve ‘Time Travelling’ thing (complicated-but-interesting plot, surely). There’re some contradictions to facts mentioned in previous movies. But who cares, for you who aren’t familiar with Terminator (yet), just enjoy the actions. This movie has great CGI effects! :)
